Unplanned Network outage starting around 7 a.m. May 19th \

Please be assured that the file servers themselves are up and healthy - your files
are safe. Many of you will not be able to access them until the hardware is replaced.
We have paused the schedulers on kingspeak and ash.
The ETA for the hardware replacement is looking like tomorrow (May 20th). Our service
contract is “next day” and the vendor tried to get one sooner, but there just isn’t
one available. This is the network card that handles the 40G connectivity.
The following connections are down:
- The connection to Tangent
- The connection to the Science DMZ
- The connection to the IB gateway on the Kings Peak fabric
- The connection to the IB gateway on the Ash fabric
- The connection to both 40G switches in Salt Flats/ Green River
- The connection to the 40G switches where the DTNs are connected
I will send a list of the affected file systems soon.
Again, we sincerely apologize for this inconvenience and we will do everything possible
to restore service.
